The Grumpy SPD Technicians

Comedians often use humor to deal with challenges and frustrations. They tell stories that end in humor; laughter is great medicine. We can do the same in sterile processing: Bring humor and laughter. Here’s a funny story about a supervisor of a sterile processing department who takes all the angry employees to a place that makes them happy:

“Once upon a time, there was a supervisor in a sterile processing department who was fed up with all the grumpy employees. One day, she had an idea. She gathered all the angry employees and took them to a magical place that made everyone happy.

As they entered the place, the first thing they saw was a sign that read, “Welcome to the Land of Laughter!” And that’s exactly what it was. Everywhere they looked, they saw happy people laughing and smiling.

The supervisor then announced, “Today, we’re going to have a little fun. We’re going to take part in a laughter competition. The person who laughs the most wins!”

And so, the competition began. They laughed at silly jokes, funny faces and even tickled each other. The supervisor could not believe her eyes. One of the technicians, whom she had never witnessed break a smile, was laughing. At the end of the day, everyone was declared a winner because they had all laughed so much. One ex-grumpy technician almost peed his pants.

As they left the "Land of Laughter," the employees were filled with happiness and laughter. They went back to work with big smiles on their faces and a new appreciation for the power of laughter.
